Year 12s Graduate
On 20 October, 142 Carey graduates celebrate their last day in style.
An annual calendar highlight, Carey students and teachers alike both laughed and teared-up acknowledging the moment that is: this group of students stepping into their next phase of life.
“Well, today is a day that I’m sure many of you have been looking forward to for some time, for some more than others.” says Mrs Rushby, Year 12 Manager. “Now that it‘s here, I am sure many of you have mixed emotions. I am so excited for you as you move forward to your next phase in life. The thought that keeps coming back to me is how incredibly blessed I am, along with so many others that I have known such a super special and very loved year group for the past 6 years that are just so hard to say goodbye to.”
The students put on a great show for their final assembly, and the teachers reached new heights of education excellence with their own special dance performance!
Year 12 Year manager Amanda Rushby delivered a heart warming speech “There are so many things we all love about you, your fun loving spirits, resiliency, perseverance, awesome problem solving abilities, goal setting and at times your tendency to over share.” said Mrs Rushby. “When I think about this year group as a whole I am reminded of how much you have achieved and how much success you have enjoyed. Each one of you will always hold a special place in my heart and I thank you for that. A love far greater than that, is the love that God has for you. My prayer for you all is that you will always know how much God has and always will love you.”
What the students are saying:
We have appreciated the willingness of the staff to go the extra mile, and their availability and guidance.
We have enjoyed excursions, competitions, overseas trips, camps, sports and extra tutoring.
We have even come to appreciate the levels and stages! The rigour of the student management system in the middle years provided a platform of trust for us to mature and be treated as adults.
We deeply appreciate and respect our Year manager, staff and principals. Thank you for providing a safe environment to learn and a community who share their love of God and also respect our individual faith journey.
Well done and congratulations class of 2016!
