Carey Jewels Cheer and Pom Team Win

Students in Carey Jewels Cheer and Pom Team competed in the Aussie Gold Cheer and Dance State Championships on 11 and 12 August. Each one of the students represented the College so well in all of the routines, both on the stage, within the warm up areas as well as in the Stadium throughout both of the days. Many of the students spent break times chatting to to students in other year groups, and getting to know people from other colleges and clubs. The excellence and teamwork displayed, together with kindness and care towards one another is evident in all they do among the Carey Jewels as well as toward other competing teams. I am so proud of the way they represented the College.

The results for the weekend were as follows;
Secondary Junior Pom
Year 7 Crystals: 2nd place
Year 8 Diamonds: 1st place

Secondary Senior Pom
Year 9 and 10: 2nd place
Year 11 and 12: 1st place

The Year 8 students are currently the highest scoring Junior Pom team of any Secondary college in Western Australia, and the Year 11 and 12 students are the current Senior Pom Champions. The students who placed second was only to other Carey teams. The results are fantastic!

The students work so hard to achieve these goals, arriving early before school to train, and sometimes giving up weekends to commit to the team. The community that allows the success of these teams, be it parents, family members, friends and many teachers are so special! Thank you to all involved in the program, we are looking forward to the next competition on Saturday 1 September at HBF Stadium.
