Carey Teacher wins National Prize

James Morrison and Director of Music Scott Loveday

The Director of Music at Carey Harrisdale , Mr Scott Loveday, has been awarded the Wenger Band Directors Award at the 2016 Generations in Jazz event earlier this year. The prize for this award included a jazz masterclass with James Morrison for Carey music students!

The school was buzzing with excitement as our music students enjoyed an afternoon masterclass with one of the world’s greatest musicians, thanks to the talent and hard work of Mr Loveday and the whole Carey music department.

When asked about the success of Carey’s music programme James said
“This school is extraordinary. It’s no coincidence that Carey has seven students coming to the James Morrison Academy next year. The teachers here have created a special environment that is conducive to students actually achieving their potential…”

A record number of seven students from Carey (!!) have been accepted into the James Morrison Academy in 2017.
