Year 10 X-Over Bali

“The X-Over Bali Trip was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I will never forget which has deeply impacted me. I signed up to go and help people in need, but let’s just say it offered so much more! This experience was a real eye opener and really encouraged me to realise just how fortunate I am to live such an amazing life.

There were so many memories made on this trip, including visiting and connecting with the children from Sidhi Astu Orphanage, climbing to new heights at the Tree Top Adventure, buying fruit and vegetables for the refugees and having an eventful night on a river cruise, just to name a few. The trip was beyond amazing, but one of my favourite moments would have to be visiting the rubbish tip and the old people’s home. During our time at the rubbish tip school, we sang, danced and had time to play with these beautiful children. Seeing them so happy despite having so little definitely had an impact on me, as it outlined just how easily I took things for granted. I was in disbelief and shock to step foot out of the school to find myself inside a rubbish tip. To understand that these young happy children lived within the rubbish was unbelievable. From this day alone, I have learnt not to take things for granted and to be grateful for absolutely everything I have. It really was a life changing experience for me.

The part I miss most about the X-Over trip was how close we all became with one another, including the teachers. We shared so many laughs and tears together, and we became one big family.

I would highly recommend this trip, if not make it compulsory, for everyone to take part on this adventure. No words can honestly describe just how much of an impact it will have on your life. I will be forever grateful for this experience.”
