Magda Lisek: Operatic Soprano

Magda Lisek is an operatic soprano with an innate artistry and an absolute love for performing. After graduating from Carey Baptist College in 2011, she went to the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). There she completed a Bachelor of Performing Arts – Classical Voice and a Graduate Diploma of Music – Opera.

Magda began her training at an early age by learning piano and involving herself in various theatre and performing arts groups. She started singing when she was 8 years old, which was when she discovered her love for classical music. In July 2015, Magda was accepted into the intensive Bel Canto Summer Voice Program in Munich, Germany. In 2017, Magda travelled to Poland to continue voice training under renowned Polish soprano, Jolanta Zmurko.

Magda’s credits include the lead role in various operas such as Lady Billows in Benjamin Britten’s ‘Albert Herring’, Brunnhilde in Guy Noble’s ‘The Opera!’, Gossip in Jaques Ibert’s ‘Angelique’ as well as Secrecy in Purcell’s ‘The Fairy Queen Excerpts.’ Magda has also performed as a soprano soloist in Dvorak’s ‘Requiem’ and in 2015 and 2017 she sold out two concerts at the prestigious Government House Ballroom.

This year, Magda performed as a chorus member in Freeze Frame Opera’s production of Leoncavallo’s ‘I Pagliacci.’ As if that wasn’t enough, she has also become a committee member and organised and performed in a concert for Music Amica! Magda also teaches singing from her home studio in Canning Vale.

As a classical singer, Magda is constantly training her voice and developing her acting skills, while learning Italian, French and German – the main operatic languages. Magda hopes to sing as a soloist in Opera Houses across the world one day, including The Royal Opera House in London, The Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Bayerishe Staatsoper in Munich. However, singing for Australian audiences gives Magda the greatest pleasure, so she would love to sing at one of the most iconic theatres in the world – the Sydney Opera House!
